After moving to New Westminster in the summer of 2015, I missed going to the community recreation centre where I had previously lived.  I started walking and a doing a little running in my new neighborhood as well as in Queen’s Park.  But I soon realized I needed more to keep fit as I aged.  At the end of January I decided to start working out at Dynamic Health and Fitness but realized I wanted a trainer to provide me with training in using the fitness equipment.  As well I wanted someone to ensure I worked out safely and efficiently.  Martin’s available time in the early morning fitted my schedule.  I’ve been attending the gym for two months, three times a week, and it’s good.  He’s patient with me yet he pushes me to exert myself.  I’m now doing more reps and heavier weights than when I started and with confidence.  Martin has provided me with opportunities to use a variety of equipment and exercises that I would not have done on my own.  One thing which is so good, and something I had rarely experienced with other trainers in the past, was Martin’s emphasis on stretching.  He reminds me to do this after my warm-up and then again several times throughout the hour.  The result is I don’t ache and I’m not in pain after the session or the next day.  I feel great!
Do I enjoy going?  I feel comfortable in the gym and not intimidated by the others working out.  It’s a friendly environment provided by the staff and other members.  Working hard and sweating is not my favorite thing to do.  Yet I feel healthier and stronger and I’ve even lost some weight.  I will continue working out under Martin’s instruction.

“I joined Dynamic Health and Fitness a couple of years ago after making the decision to live a more healthier life style. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming right from the start. I felt a little intimidated when I signed up because  I admitted to them it was my first “gym membership” and that I didn’t know how to “do the gym” or workout properly. They suggested I try the personal training  consultations to get me orientated with the equipment and familiarize myself with some of the equipment I would be using, so I booked in with one of the personal trainers – Brett. After half way through my first personal training consult with Brett I knew this was something I would want to continue past the 2 personal training consults. Brett was so helpful and knowledgeable I knew this was someone who could help me achieve my fitness goals!  In the first 6 months with the guidance and workout plans she made me, I successfully lost 20lbs! With the continued help of Brett I am getting closer and closer to my ultimate fitness goals every week. I feel Dynamic Fitness is not just a gym where you go and workout by yourself, but a community full of supportive staff and members I’m proud to be a part of”.

This summer I decided it was time to get serious about my physical activity. I was one of those people who had a gym membership that I paid for every month but had only been sporadically using it, once or twice a month, since I signed up over a year ago!
As I have never really been an overly athletic person I didn’t really know how to use the gym machines and weights and it seemed a rather daunting task to learn — I decided I needed some help! After e-mailing back and forth with Jeff, the owner of Dynamic Fitness, he put me in contact with David, a personal trainer he thought that I would work well with. I have now been training with David since August 2015 and I couldn’t be happier with my results. David is an awesome personal trainer who has taught me a lot about working out and eating clean. With David’s help and guidance in the last 10 weeks I have lost 10lbs (1lb per week), however I have dropped two pant sizes!! I am now a regular gym goer, maintaining a 4 times a week workout routine and can finally start to see some good muscle definition.
Signing up for personal training sessions was the best thing I ever did and has helped to kick start
my fitness transformation. David and all the staff at Dynamic Health and Fitness are great and extremely encouraging. Thanks for all your continued support!

Having grown up being an athlete I had always been involved in athletics on a junior and then a varsity level, however as I started to age my body started slowing down and the weight started to slowly but surely pack on. As of May of this year (2015) I hit a new low — I was terribly out of shape as I had put on over 40lbs in the last 2 years. I finally decided something had to change, I was not used to being so overweight, I was miserable, I hated the way I looked and I needed to do something about it now before I gained another 10 lbs and another year of my life — no more  procrastinating any longer. Now all I needed to do was to make a plan on how I could shed the weight and just do it! I joined Dynamic Health and Fitness June 1st, 2015 and began my weight loss/ feel good journey and this has turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time for myself! It started with my diet, being a manager at the Columbia Square Boston Pizza I was tempted all the time with great food and pizza and believe me when I say this, tempted is an understatement when you see those great smelling and tasting pizza’s coming out of the oven how could I resist? However I’ve always believed everything is fine in moderation (even Boston Pizza), I started to watch my sugar intake, no empty calories or junk food, lower fat meals and one of the most important factors is smaller portions not seconds or thirds filling me up, as well I started a slow and steady exercise/workout regiment which is also half the battle. I’m not new to fitness or the gym at all, growing up surrounded by sports and athletes, (it had just been a few years) so I am very aware of what I needed to do, as well what works and generally speaking how to do it. One thing that definitely has helped was the Dynamic Fitness staff, the knowledgeable personal trainers and the encouragement ! Each and every day I come in the staff are cheerful, friendly and even ask what type of workout I was doing that day. The staff has helped me learn new exercises as well improving some classics. They have got to know me and my daily routines, we have a mutual respect for each other which I appreciate since most gyms do not care about the client like I have witnessed at Dynamic! I look forward to seeing them each and every day I’m there. The club offers so many options for all different age groups and fitness levels in regards to weight training, cardio machines and a multitude of classes — getting bored with a routine hasn’t been possible. The one thing I will stress is there is no magic bullet, magic diet, magic potion for losing weight, what you put into it is what you will get out of it and more. To say it has been easy would not be true at all if it was easy everyone would be doing it! There were many times in the last 3.5 months that I felt like not going to the gym but I had a goal in mind and stuck to it — which is the hardest thing to do — stick to it! I knew inside me that just needed to commit the time and energy and I knew it would eventually happen and it has!! As of September 15th, 2015, I’ve been coming in regularly to do some sort of exercise, so for the last 12+ weeks straight I have slowly dropped 40 lbs and gone from an embarrassing 245 lbs down to 205 lbs… and counting! I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish in another 3 months and with an amazing amount of support from Dynamic Health and Fitness, my friends, co-workers and family… thank you — with hard work and commitment — “Anything is possible!!” Good luck to anyone and everyone starting a weight loss/feel good journey like myself!

I’ve always gone regularly to the gym since university but about 6 years ago my job started to require travel. I gave up my gym membership and other classes, then tried for 3 years to use hotel gyms when I was traveling, and trying to drop into he community center when I was home. After changing jobs 3 years ago, I finally had the chance to get back to a regular gym routine and Dynamic Health and Fitness was fantastically within walking distance and had enough equipment so half the time there wasn’t spent waiting for someone else to finish! The staff have always been incredibly friendly, and when I managed to convince my husband to join, we got to know them better. This year, I felt I had done as much as I could by myself to lose the weight I had gained while traveling and, after my husband spent some time chatting to Brett, he convinced me to go talk to her, as we’d both noticed the amazing progress she’d made with other clients. Immediately Brett was on the case! She was friendly, honest and realistic in what we could, and should, achieve and has always been super supportive of the progress I’ve made. She said I needed to start eating more (yes!) and, to keep me from getting bored with the same routine, changes it up often, which also means I can
make better use of the facilities. She also goes above and beyond when trying to understand changing health goals, making sure she understands you and your own challenges. The gym is also amazing at supporting the local community and causes like Say No to Domestic Violence, so it makes you feel truly like a part of a neighborhood. To be honest, I feel like I’ve gained a friend in Brett, and it’s always good to have a friendly neighborhood place to drop off excess baked goods!

I had some physical challenges and needed a change, after procrastinating long enough I joined Dynamic Health and Fitness in January of 2015. I had not worked out in a fitness club for some time and I lacked the self motivation to work out on my own so I decided to purchase an introductory personal training starter package to get started with my health and fitness goals. I was introduced to James and he was able to find some exercises that would enable
me to get the most from my workouts, he trains with care and compassion yet provides just the right amount of motivation for me to push myself just a little bit more and go beyond what I think I can do. I have never done the same workout twice as he is always keeping my workouts different, interesting and challenging for me to enjoy. I am now stronger, I feel healthier and I am doing things and exercises I never dreamed I would ever be able to do! I have to say this is one of the best things I could of ever done for myself is to join Dynamic Health and Fitness and hire James as my trainer — thank you James for making me accountable towards my health and fitness goals!

Three years ago, I decided to join a gym to get myself back in shape so that I could play hockey again.  I had been to a number of other gyms in the past, but none compared with Dynamic Health and Fitness. The atmosphere was very inviting, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the equipment well-kept and modern.  For the last two years I have been working out with one of Dynamic’s personal trainers.

Over that time, Brett has helped motivate me to lose the weight and gain the strength and flexibility I needed to continue to play hockey. She suggested taking Yoga classes and do some strength training, which helped a lot. Although I am now in playing shape, I’m still working out with Brett once a week, as well taking two Yoga classes each week and going to the gym as often as I can to maintain what I have to stay healthy and strong. I will be completing my second full season of hockey this spring. Thank you to Dynamic Health and Fitness and especially my personal trainer Brett – she is great and I could not have done it without her!

I joined Dynamic years ago, after a bad accident that left the lower half of my body severely damaged. The doctor told me that I had to stop running, dancing, and most other physical activities. However, I created a routine that allowed me to do yoga and basic cardio without causing, or so I thought, more damage. But after years of following this routine, my body seized last summer and I lost mobility in the lower half of my body. It was at this point that I decided to be more careful about how I approached my physical health. I found a chiropractor who put my body back together and then I hired David Ramirez — one of the personal trainers at Dynamic Fitness.
I was so nervous to meet with him, because I had heard of trainers pushing clients really hard, and I knew that I just wasn’t capable of that. I was also really embarrassed by my physical limitations that I had worked so hard to disguise. Within one session David eased my fears – he did everything he could to make me comfortable, and took his time to figure out what I was capable of. Whenever I try an exercise and can’t do it, he quickly gives me an alternative that meets my needs. Most importantly, he gives me tons of information that helps me to protect my body even when he’s not around. My fitness goals have never been certain exercises or milestones that I want to achieve, rather, I just want to be safe and help my body to recover. Within 4 sessions David solved many of the problems with my form that were likely contributing to my problems, and I noticed a significant reduction in pain. I know that I couldn’t have done this without him, and his knowledge, never-ending encouragement and positive attitude. I will be forever grateful to him for what he has helped me to achieve, and the fact that I’m dancing again!

I have been training with Nina for 6 weeks now and can honestly say she is the best trainer I’ve ever had. I have worked previously with other trainers, who don’t get me wrong, were great, but Nina is a level above. She has helped me so much with proper form to ensure I don’t get injured. She corrects me with every subtle move to allow the correct muscle groups to get targeted. I feel stronger and more toned, but above that I feel like I am extremely well educated on how my muscles should move and how my body should feel doing certain exercises. I am not simply going through motions as I have in the past, I have more body awareness than ever before and my strength shows it. I can’t recommend Nina enough. She is fantastic!

I have never been a physically fit person who counted down the minutes until their next gym session, but all that changed four years ago when a motor vehicle accident left me with a permanent spinal cord injury. The Doctors were sure it was going to leave me paralyzed or using walking aides for the rest of my life, and it became imperative to my survival I learn to love the gym and everything it had to offer. When I became a member at Dynamic Health and Fitness, I was nervous, and had no idea what I was doing, I honestly could have been one of those gym fail members. I finally got the nerve to ask for help and personal training and was introduced to Brett and I have never looked back. She has been monumental in my recovery, to the point now where I use zero walking aides and have lost 60 pounds and I am now a quarter of the size I was in high school which has been a lot of help to my bones, muscles and joints. The staff here make this place seem so much more than just a gym, it really is a one of a kind place. Thank you to Dynamic Health and Fitness and of course Brett for helping me become committed to my fitness!

In my 35+ years of “working out”, and having used personal trainers in the past, I originally purchased 16 training sessions from Dynamic Health and Fitness and Luke Ramnath was my trainer, I was so impressed with Luke that I have been training consistently with him for almost 3 years now! I can offer an opinion on Luke as a personal trainer. Quite simply: he is exceptional! He brings a very straight forward approach, super clear instruction, listens well and learns what YOU want out of your program(s); he is knowledgeable in proper form/technique, includes lots of variation in exercise programs, and is well versed with nutritional information as well. He reminds us all how imperative it is to include BOTH. In January of 2015 I started training with David (once a week) since Luke is away. David is very welcoming, knowledgeable and a phenomenal young trainer. I continue to workout regularly 3-5x weekly to help with the high stress of my hospital job. When I come into the club I feel very welcomed by the staff and other clients. The owners (Jeff and Alison) have created a very professional club that offers a casual, comfortable and un-intimidating atmosphere for everyone no matter your age, shape or size — I would have no problem in recommending this club to anyone — kudos to all the staff at Dynamic Health and Fitness for changing my life not only physically but mentally… for the better!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the gym and the programs available through it. I cannot get enough of the classes, from yoga to step. This has been my first experience with being a member to a gym and I could not have asked for a better one. I love the atmosphere and the set-up!

I would recommend this gym in a heartbeat!  I have been a member since May, 2011 and love going.  I was very nervous at first but quickly felt at ease because of the kind and friendly staff.  The gym is very clean and has a bright, open atmosphere.   I love the convenient and free parking just outside the door.  There is just no excuse not to go!

A year ago, I was in the worst shape of my life. Between my work, family and 2 kids I had let myself go to the point that I was almost 100lbs overweight. Deciding that it was finally time to take control of my life, I found Dynamic Health and Fitness and was introduced to Trevor which led to not only my first personal training session, but a complete lifestyle change. Contacting them and meeting Trevor was one of the best decisions that I have made in my life. I am now 80lbs lighter and in better shape than I have ever been in!!

Trevor has been a fundamental source of inspiration and motivation for me. After every session that we have, I walk away more inspired to achieve my fitness and nutrition goals, and to enhance my quality of life. I look forward to my sessions with him as the workouts are varied and challenging, and he always knows when to push me to a new level to help me achieve my goals. In my opinion his knowledge of the human body, nutrition, and fitness makes him a personal trainer in a league of his own!

I started training with Brenda a few months ago.  Brenda has a great attitude and has encouraged me to work harder than I ever have.  I look forward to our sessions because I always leave exhausted and happy that I did something for myself.  I’m already noticing a difference in my strength and endurance.  Brenda is also helping me with an eating plan and is keeping me on track so that I can reach my goals.  She’s creative and fun at our sessions, and I would definitely recommend her to others!

I started working with Luke in January, 2012. I wanted to get back into shape and loose a few pounds in preparation for a Spring holiday. I chose Luke as I had been following his weekly column in the local paper and was impressed with his approach to training. I found Luke to be professional, knowledgeable, organized and easy to talk to. I was very impressed with my initial meeting where he took my blood pressure, measurements, medical history, goals etc. before even touching a weight. As well, Luke recommended starting a food journal along with an online program to track my calories and the breakdown of fat, carbs etc. That was a real eye opener and helped me get off on the right start towards achieving my goals. Over a six week period I not only lost weight but several inches. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised and I am even more determined to continue with my workout programs. Thanks Luke for your encouragement and pushing me when you knew I could do more!

Over one year ago I was in a minor car accident which prevented me from doing a lot of the physical activities I enjoy. It also caused me to have painful headaches and neck aches. Last summer, I came to dynamic fitness in hopes of finding a personal trainer who could help me get back into shape, help me strengthen my body and be mindful of my injury.

I had never loved going to the gym but I thought, with the help of a trainer, it might help with my neck and headaches. Brett designed fun and challenging workouts that helped strengthen my neck and after a few sessions, I noticed a significant improvement. What was most important to me during our workouts was that she really pushed me and encouraged me, but was also mindful of my limitations around my neck. Brett also really listed to my needs, goals and she really cared.

Brett has made the gym fun for me and I always enjoy going. Recently, the doctor recommended I take a couple more sessions from Brett as it has been helping my neck so much, and I am very much looking forward to this. I would recommend Brett to anyone and everyone as she listens to your needs, she really cares, and she makes working out fun and challenging.

I joined Dynamic last week.  My experience with signing up was awesome, Brett was very helpful and welcoming.  To date I have enjoyed working out in the ladies only area.  I am looking forward to trying the spin class on Saturday.

My name is Mandy and my daughter Alex and I have been members for around a year now. I really am glad that we joined dynamic fitness because it is very family friendly. Alex feels very welcome there and we have all the equipment that we need in order to work out together. We like it because it is close to NWSS where Alex goes to school and it allows us to have  mother daughter time in the morning before our day gets crazy.

I would recommend Dynamic to anyone who wants to be a part of a healthy lifestyle in a friendly place. We are very happy with our gym.

Too many years of work stress and vegging in front of the couch brought me an extra 70 lbs of fat, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and a high risk of heart disease. In 2009 I finally decided to do something about it. It took me two years on my own to shed 45 lbs. but I was fed up and knew I needed help. In March of 2011, on my way back from a funeral, the bus dropped me off at 6th Ave and 8thSt . My intention was to walk to the car but instead, I found my feet steering me into the gym just for a “lookie see” and to find out if I could afford to join. Little did I know that I would find family and friends. I immediately joined and signed up with Brenda for one-on-one training. That was the best decision I ever made in my entire life. When I walk into the gym, I’m greeted with ear-to-ear smiles and hugs. Working with Brenda is a joy. She’s knowledgeable and inspires me to work hard and she makes it fun. Never before has anyone said “I know you can do this”. Brenda is not only my trainer, she’s my confidant, my counselor and now, my friend. Thank you one and all for giving me my life back again – for helping me to feel “OK” again and regain my self confidence. My relationship with you has just begun.

My neighbour and I joined Dynamic Health and Fitness last January (2011) and have really enjoyed our workouts over the past year!  We are impressed with the variety of classes and also take advantage of all the equipment in the Ladies area upstairs.  We feel stronger, healthier, and leaner.  We love the friendly staff, instructors and owners and the great atmosphere at the club.  I have found having a workout buddy has really spurred me on as well (thanks Jo!).  I highly recommend Dynamic Health and Fitness if you are looking for a great place to exercise.

I joined this gym again last May, 2011 (I was a member of Lady Dynafit in the late 90’s) and I have enjoyed every visit I make to the gym – try to get in 6 times a week.  I convinced my best friend Debbie and my two daughters to join along with me.  Having someone to buddy up with has been great!  We enjoy the classes – the instructors are knowledgeable and great fun to follow for a good workout.  The entire gym is comfortable and you are guaranteed to have someone to help you out if you need some pointers.  I highly recommend this gym to everyone – next goal is to get my husband to join! 😉

I joined Dynamic in February 2010 and for the past two have enjoyed the facilities tremendously. The staff are always very courteous and never fail to acknowledge me on entering the premises. The facility always meets a high standard of cleanliness and this is an important aspect of any training facility. The location is excellent being in the center of the City. Another important feature is the gratis underground parking and there are ample parking spots as compared to other training facilities. Dynamic Health and Fitness is a gym for all ages.
